Special Blend of Spices Recipe / Tea (Chai) Masala / Garam Masala
Special blend of spices can be used in making different kinds of Teas, Curries, Rice, and Pulaos (Pilaf). Frankly, all these kind of blended spices (Masalas) have different combination of condiments and spices. You can easily find the readymade packets of these Masala (blended spices) in any Indian, ethnic, or Asian stores. But in case you don’t have any of these stores nearby, then follow the following recipe to make your own spice blend.
Recipe
Take
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder.
- 1 tablespoon of cardamom powder.
- 1 tablespoon of ginger powder.
- 1 tablespoon of clove powder.
- 1 tablespoon of pepper.
- ½ tablespoon of nutmeg.
Mix all the above spices well in a bowl, stir really well, and store this blend of spices in an airtight container.
Tip:
If you like the taste of one spice more than the other, you can increase or decrease the amount of that particular spice according to your taste and make the mixture.
For example, I enjoy adding ginger powder and cinnamon powder more, so instead of 1 table spoons, I add 1 ½ table spoons of those two spices to make this spice blend of spices (masala).
