Turmeric Tea (Without Milk / Vegan) Recipe

Turmeric is much known in East Asian countries for its medicinal and healing values. Growing up whether we were hurt while playing; had inflammation; cold; cough; or any kind of health issues, turmeric was always part of the solution. Besides, turmeric has been part of most of all the home cooked meals in our family. Turmeric tea with perfect combination of blend of spices is something we drink every day. These special blend of spices increases healing value and bioavailability of Turmeric for our body. This turmeric tea is perfect healing tea recipe for people who don’t prefer dairy or have dairy allergies.

Recipe Turmeric Tea (without milk):

Preparation Time 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of water
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon of special blend of spices
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon ghee or clarified butter (optional)
  • 2-3 drops of lemon juice (optional)

How to make special blend of spices (also called Milk Masala or Tea Masala or Garam Masala)

Take

  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger powder
  • 1 tablespoon of clove powder
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper powder
  • ½ tablespoon of nutmeg

Mix all the above spices well in a bowl, stir really well, and store the blend of spices in an airtight container.

To make Turmeric Tea:

  • Heat a cup of water on your stove.
  • Add ½ teaspoon of turmeric followed by ½ teaspoon of special blend of spices.
  • Add optional ingredients like honey, lemon juice, and ghee (clarified butter) only if you prefer.
  • Bring it to boil and pour it in your cup.
  • Warm soothing Turmeric Tea is ready.
  • Avoid ghee (clarified butter) for dairy free and vegan recipe.

Alternate Microwave Recipe

Mix a cup of water with ½ teaspoon of turmeric , ½ teaspoon of special blend of spices, and optional ingredients (only if you prefer) like honey, lemon juice, and ghee (clarified butter) in a microwavable cup. Heat it for a minute. Turmeric Tea is ready. Avoid ghee (clarified butter) for dairy free and vegan recipe.

Tips: For those who are not used to turmeric taste, adding honey and lemon juice will make the taste better. Since we are not using milk in this recipe, adding ghee (clarified butter) will make turmeric more soluble in our body. But avoid ghee (clarified butter) for dairy free and vegan recipe. This tea recipe works really well with or without optional ingredients to get relief from sore throat, cough, cold, and inflammation.
